Mount Hunger, located in Waterbury, is a strenuous hike with breathtaking views! Scrambling up rocks, makeshift bridges, and a lovely waterfall are all part of the ascent to the summit. The trail can become a bit treacherous when wet. On our descent, another hiker took a tumble. Always be cautious of conditions!
In the summer, be sure to stop for a quick dip at the base of the waterfall, which is about a mile into the hike. At the summit, Mount Mansfield and Camel’s Hump are both in view. Experienced hikers can continue onto the Skyline Trail to reach Stowe Pinnacle and hogback. If you are with a hiking partner, plan ahead and park one car at Stowe Pinnacle and the other at Mount Hunger.
Hiking is such a wonderful way to spend quality time with friends! On this hike, we discussed politics and our plans for the future. At the summit, we sat in awe of the breathtaking scenery laid out before as as we contentedly munched on carrots freshly plucked from our garden. Vermont truly is a treasure trove for nature lovers!
